Rosemary water is amazing, it helps with hair growth, according to a study done in 2015, which I’ll talk about in a few minutes. It’s also really easy to make, and today I’m just going to be telling you everything that you need to know about how to make rosemary water for hair growth. In this article, or you can say recipe, I am going to show you the recipe and routine. This is just so much easier, I streamlined my whole process of making rosemary water, so that’s what I’m going to be sharing with you guys.

Rosemary is a shrub, and it’s something you can find in the grocery store, like with the cilantro with the mint. There isn’t a straight answer as to how rosemary impacts hair growth. Still, it is thought that the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in rosemary help stimulate hair growth by improving circulation and soothing the scalp.

Rosemary’s study on hair growth

The 2015 study that I mentioned earlier found that rosemary oil and minoxidil, which is Rogaine, both worked the same at increasing hair count over a period of three months and six months among people with androgenetic alopecia. This study demonstrates how effective rosemary can be at increasing hair growth. There is one thing I want to note about this study, they obviously used rosemary oil, which has a much higher concentration compared to rosemary water.

So why not just use rosemary oil? If you have oily hair, then you probably already know the answer to that. That is because oiling your hair is something if you have oily hair, like if your hair gets oily on day three or two. Even you cannot oil your hair on an everyday basis. Rosemary water is something that you can use every day, whether you have oily hair or dry hair because it’s literally just going to dry on your roots and scalp. And you’re not even going to be able to notice that you’ve put anything on it. That’s why I like to use rosemary water for someone with oily hair as opposed to rosemary oil.

How to make rosemary water for hair growth

So, how to make rosemary water for hair growth? I bought about three bundles of rosemary from the grocery store, and I counted, and there were 30 pieces of rosemary. The first thing that I did was rinse the rosemary in water, and then I put all the rosemary in a pot with about six or seven cups of water.

I brought the water to a boil, and I turned the burner down to simmer, and I just let that simmer with the cover on the pot, and that was sitting there for about 20 minutes. Then after that, I put the burner on high again just to let it boil a little bit more, just to make sure that all the nutrients and everything were out of the rosemary and into the water. I turned the burner off and let it sit for about an hour, just until the rosemary water cooled down completely.

And I poured just the water into an empty spray bottle with the help of a funnel, just so that I wouldn’t make a mess or waste any of the rosemary water. Then I just put the cap on, and that is how I made the rosemary water. It is so easy, and the bottle is probably going to last me like a month and a half, or maybe even two months.

How to use rosemary water?

So, how to use rosemary water? There are a few different ways that you can use rosemary water. The first way is the way that I used it, first, you want to shampoo your hair and then condition it. Just your regular wash routine, and then when your hair is still wet, you want to spray your roots with the rosemary water. I do this after I get out of the shower after my hair has been in one of those hair-drying towels for about 10 minutes, and then I just dry my hair as usual.

The second way is that you can use rosemary water, which is something I do on an everyday basis. You can just spray the roots of your hair on dry hair. You can do this like any time of day, but I prefer to do it right before I go to bed; it just almost dries instantly because there’s like barely anything on your roots. It’s not like you’re drenching your hair, but you don’t have to even think about the fact that your roots are a little bit damp because you wake up and then everything is dry.

I do this every night, and there is just a light scent, but it goes away after a few minutes. This is nothing overpowered at all, so I do both of these methods of using rosemary water, I’ve integrated it into my nighttime routine.

Some warnings on how to use rosemary water

Spray my hair right after brushing my teeth before going to bed, and then I also just spray it right after I shampoo and condition my damp hair. I don’t recommend using this immediately before shampooing because you’re just going to rinse it out right after. If I were to use rosemary oil, I would probably use it the night before I shampoo; that’s one way you can integrate rosemary oil into your hair care routine. That’s when I would use it before shampooing, but I wouldn’t use rosemary water before shampooing.

Another little tip is that I also like to make sure to use a clarifying shampoo once a week or once every week and a half, just to make sure that all the buildup of product and oil and everything like that is completely off of my scalp. Which is beneficial for your hair and scalp in general, whether you’re using rosemary water. Especially because I use rosemary water, it just helps to make it as effective as possible because it’s able to work its magic on my scalp without having any barriers in the way.

There you go. That was my really quick and easy way how to make rosemary water for hair growth and my rosemary water hair care routine. I hope you guys find this article knowledgeable. For more insights like these, please subscribe to my scent stories newsletter
